How to reach Carcinisation 7 and unlock Convergent Evolution

Count only crab-tagged evolutions, use the character-screen meter, and route stable crab pieces first: Antennae, Shell, Exoskeleton, Moulting, Arms into Pincer and Pistol Pincer, plus Arthropod Legs into Scuttle or More Legs. Reaching 7 unlocks the Convergent Evolution roll, but it may still take another offer to appear.

QuestionPractical answerWhat to watch
What actually counts?Only evolutions with the small crab icon advance the Carcinisation meter, and the character screen shows the running total.Do not hand-count every shell-looking card or every affinity point.
How many current evolutions affect it?An official August 15 developer reply says 10 current evolutions affect Carcinisation.Treat 10 as the current live count, not a promise that every crab-looking evolution or future update uses the stat.
What is the clean public route?Antennae, Shell, Exoskeleton, Moulting, Arms into Pincer into Pistol Pincer, and Arthropod Legs into Scuttle or More Legs are the clearest public pieces named in current player advice. This route reaches 7 through stable branches instead of praying for a mystery legendary too early.
What breaks the attempt most often?Taking Fur or Scales too early, skipping Arms or Legs follow-ups, or assuming Convergent Evolution appears immediately after 7.Reaching 7 unlocks the offer; it does not force the next level-up to show it.

If the real goal is The Crabtain rather than only Carcinisation 7, solve survival first and treat Convergent Evolution as late upside instead of the entire run.

Keep the threshold, the offer and the final goal separate

Carcinisation 7 is the threshold discussed by the player route above; seeing Convergent Evolution in a later offer is another event. The route does not say that the next level-up must show it. Continue protecting the run after reaching seven instead of making every remaining choice depend on an immediate appearance.

The Crabtain asks for Carcinisation 10, which is a further objective. A route that names enough compatible pieces to reach seven is useful preparation, but it is not a demonstrated ten-point route. Keep the current meter visible when judging the next choice and avoid awarding extra points because an Evolution looks like a crab part.

Read Convergent Evolution under the released changes

Version 1.1 made Convergent Evolution available at Epic rarity, raised its Legendary highest-Affinity bonus to fifteen and added an increased chance of finding Carcinisation Evolutions per Carcinisation point. The announcement gives that chance increase as 15/20% for the listed tiers. An increased offer chance is not another Carcinisation point and does not guarantee a specific missing card.

Separate the three quantities when reading the reward: the current Carcinisation total, the bonus to the highest Affinity and the change in future offer chances. They describe different effects. Adding the Affinity bonus to the Carcinisation meter by hand would produce a completion claim that the patch does not support.

Why Chosen does not replace the branching route

Use the in-game Codex’s all-tier, all-level view when a card’s current effect differs from a remembered screenshot. The same update added that comparison view. It helps identify what is being offered, but it does not predict the order of future offers or establish that a particular combination will appear in every attempt.

FAQ

Can Chosen supply a required branching Evolution directly?

Version 1.2 changed Chosen to offer three new Legendary Evolutions and explicitly excluded upgrades and branching Evolutions. A route that needs Arms into a named branch cannot assume that Chosen will supply that branch directly. Check the parent and the offered specialisation instead of treating rarity as permission to bypass the route.

Make the next choice from the actual meter

  1. Check the current Carcinisation total before selecting a possible contributor. Use the crab indicator and the actual card rather than a visual resemblance alone.
  2. Preserve the parent route for a needed branch. If a choice rules out a planned alternative, reconsider the route before assuming that more rerolls will restore it.
  3. After reaching seven, keep a functioning food and movement plan. Waiting for Convergent Evolution should not remove the ability to survive until another offer.
  4. If pursuing ten, inspect the remaining compatible contributors separately. Do not count the seven-point route or an Affinity bonus as proof of the final achievement.

FAQ

Does a repeated upgrade necessarily add another Carcinisation point?

Read the meter and the specific effect. A higher card level, a rarity change and an additional tagged Evolution are different events; the route above is not a rule that every upgrade adds one point.

Is the developer’s count of ten affected Evolutions timeless?

The cited reply describes the game at that time. Keep its date with the count and compare later released changes before treating it as an exhaustive list for every future version.
