Everything is Crab meta-progression, unlocks, and Codex tracking

Everything is Crab has unlock-based meta-progression, not permanent stat levelling. Each run starts from its selected Genetic and normal base stats; lasting progress comes from Pressure-first evolution unlocks, Genetics, achievements, Challenges, cosmetics, Codex completion, and the Endless gate.

Is there meta-progression?Yes, but it is unlock-based rather than permanent stat levelling. Runs still begin from the selected Genetic and normal base stats.Unlock Tracker
What to do after first clear?Push one early Pressure level with the same stable build, then check Codex changes before testing a new start.Unlock Tracker
What does Pressure unlock?Version 1.1 moved former Challenge-gated evolutions onto first-time Pressure clears, so each new Pressure milestone can expand the future evolution pool.Evolution Crosswalk
Which unlock matters first?Pick one family: Genetics, achievements, Challenges, animals, cosmetics, or a build-specific evolution. Do not farm all of them in one run.Genetics Matrix
How do I avoid missing Codex entries?Track seen, unlocked, completed, finalised, and patch-verified as different states.Evolution Crosswalk
When does Endless fit?Treat Pressure 10 as the gate. Once unlocked, look for the Endless button immediately left of the other two run-mode buttons; a current player report shows that this entry point is easy to miss.Endless and Extinction

The lasting reward is a broader option pool and more completed goals, not a permanent stack of HP or damage. Use one unlock target per run so progress stays readable.

Follow one unlock chain through to its reward

Version 1.2 gives several concrete examples of lasting progress. Completing Elitist unlocks the Elitist Genetic; discovering sixty different Evolutions completes Contrarian and unlocks its Genetic; the first Pressure 12 clear unlocks Jet. These are different requirements even though each broadens future choices. A high damage total or an unrelated victory does not establish all three.

The same update attaches cosmetics to named achievements: Best Pilfriends grants Pilferrets Tail, while Disguised grants Sandsharks Claws. A cosmetic reward is not a permanent increase in combat attributes. Decide whether the next goal is a new starting option, an Evolution pool addition or an appearance unlock so the run has a clear purpose.

Use the matching progress display

The developer’s July 2 reply separates highest-Pressure records from Challenge completion. Codex Genetics shows the highest Pressure cleared with each Genetic, and the run-start Splicing menu repeats that kind of record as a skull and number. Challenge ticks are inspected after selecting the particular Challenge and opening its Genetics menu.

That separation explains why one screen can still show a gap after a successful run. A regular Pressure victory does not itself answer whether the selected Challenge has been cleared with that Genetic. The reply also leaves the question of credit for two spliced Genetics unanswered, so inspect the resulting entries before adding both to a personal checklist.

Distinguish permanent progress from a saved attempt

Version 1.2 introduced mid-run saving for regular Pressure runs, Challenges and Endless. The save keeps the current location, attributes, Evolutions and nearby creatures. Starting a new run or saving again overwrites the prior mid-run save, and Evolution or Point of Interest selection is excluded from saving.

FAQ

Is a saved attempt the same as a permanent unlock?

That saved attempt is different from a permanently unlocked Genetic or achievement. Resuming returns to a particular run; it does not describe a permanent stat increase applied to every later start. Likewise, a newly unlocked Evolution being available in the pool does not mean it must be offered immediately on the next attempt.

Choose the next milestone after a clear

  1. Review the reward you actually earned and the relevant Codex record. Keep a first-clear unlock separate from a cumulative achievement that still needs more results.
  2. Choose one new target that the expanded pool makes practical. A new movement option, a missing Genetic or a particular creature discovery can each be a useful next step.
  3. Check old unlock advice against the installed version. The 1.1 shift from Challenge rewards to Pressure rewards and the 1.2 additions can change which mode is needed.
  4. After the attempt, compare the same entry or counter. Repeating a comfortable clear is useful practice, but it is not automatic evidence of progress on every unfinished family.

FAQ

Does Full Cast always require one extra regular run?

No. Version 1.2 fixed the case where the last Genetic was unlocked outside a regular run, allowing the achievement in all areas. Check that named fix before repeating a run solely because an older report said it was necessary.

Can the website fill in my completion automatically?

No. The guide explains routes and menu locations; it does not read the account or import a save. The game’s own entries remain the place to confirm what your attempts have completed.
