Everything is Crab Food Progress and Fast Leveling Guide

Food routing decides how quickly a run reaches its real build. This page separates visible food progress, rarity, Cheek Pouch, Feeding Speed, Feeding Distance, diet bonuses, mushrooms, Boss Fruit, and non-food progress so players can fix the leveling bottleneck instead of only chasing damage.

Practical use

  1. Current public food data lists common fruit, fish, and meat at 10 total progress, rare at 30, epic at 90, and legendary at 300 before route modifiers.
  2. Mushroom progress scales with the run, so do not treat one early screenshot as a permanent fixed value.
  3. Boss Fruit completes the current level but does not carry extra progress forward; some POI level rewards can preserve overflow into the next level.
  4. Version 1.2.1 fixes the timing bug where collecting a Branching Boss Fruit on the same frame as a regular level-up could fail to award the Branching Evolution; update before diagnosing a missing branch.
  5. Cheek Pouch removes the need to stand on food, while Feeding Speed and Feeding Distance solve different parts of the same collection problem.
  6. Herbivore, Vegan, Piscivore, Carnivore, Scavenger, and Omnivore change which food sources are efficient; build around the food actually available in the current biome and route.
  7. At high Pressure, safe movement and food storage usually create more total levels than stopping for every fight.

Food progress by rarity

Food rarityBase total progressRoute meaning
Common fruit, fish, or meat10Useful when it is safe and nearby; do not cross a dangerous biome only for one basic drop.
Rare fruit, fish, or meat30Worth a short detour when movement and feeding are already safe.
Epic fruit, fish, or meat90A major level spike; protect the pickup and avoid being body-blocked while eating.
Legendary fruit, fish, or meat300The largest listed base food payout before diet and route modifiers.

These are current public base values for fruit, fish, and meat. Mushroom progress scales during the run, while Boss Fruit and some POI rewards follow different level-completion rules.

Leveling route checklist:

  1. Use Cheek Pouch when stopping to eat is the danger; it stores nearby food so Darwin can keep moving.
  2. Use Feeding Speed when stored or nearby food is still consumed too slowly, and Feeding Distance when pickups are just outside safe reach.
  3. Match diet evolutions to the route's real drops: fruit for Herbivore or Vegan, fish for Piscivore, meat for Carnivore, unattended fish or meat for Scavenger, and all three for Omnivore.
  4. After food is solved, spend the extra levels on movement, mistake budget, and one finished damage plan instead of adding a second food engine without a reason.
