Steam Machine Verified is separate from Steam Deck behavior. A developer supplied launch options for the tiny desktop-mode image; full 16:10 use is planned for Version 1.3, not shipped yet.

Run checklist

1. The September 13, 2026 official announcement marks Everything is Crab as Steam Machine Verified. It does not announce a native console, Android or iOS edition.
2. Steam Machine verification and Steam Deck behavior are different compatibility signals. Check the current Steam listing for the device you actually use.
3. The Version 1.2 notes say the incorrect Steam Deck launch resolution was fixed, but an October 22 developer reply still addresses a separate case where launching in desktop mode makes the game image extremely small.
4. For that tiny desktop-mode image, open the game's Steam properties and enter this exact launch option: -screen-fullscreen 1 -screen-width 1280 -screen-height 800. The developer warns that a typo will stop it working.
5. The same reply says Version 1.3 is planned to use the full Steam Deck screen at 16:10. That improvement is not shipped in Version 1.2.1, and the launch option is not presented as a fix for ordinary black bars or stutter.
6. Version 1.2.1 fixes Steam Input issues for gamepads connected to Steam Deck, improves snap navigation, and prevents multiple connected controllers from switching the active input unexpectedly.
7. In a September 28 developer reply, the Evolution menu uses the left joystick for navigation, D-pad Left for the side panel of evolutions already held, and Back on Xbox or Share on PlayStation for the full evolution-and-affinity menu. This answers that menu question; it does not prove that every screen can be used without a mouse or that key rebinding has shipped.
8. A post-1.2 Steam thread still reports frequent Deck stutter across settings. On August 24, a publisher representative confirmed that the report and SteamOS 3.8.16 details were passed to QA; no public stutter fix or workaround is confirmed yet.
9. Treat stutter as a separate unresolved performance report, not as proof that the controller or resolution fixes failed, and avoid presenting a frame-rate cap or lower settings as a guaranteed fix.
10. When testing, record the device, game version, SteamOS or Proton runtime, launch mode, resolution, control scheme, aspect ratio, Pressure level and where the display or stutter problem occurs.
