Everything is Crab Shiny and Bestiary Collection Build Guide

A low-greed route for seeing animals, shiny enemies, and long-term collection targets without turning the run into a fragile sprint.

Route phases

  1. Pioneer and Nomadic increase the chance that the map gives you something worth seeing.
  2. More Eyes, movement, and food storage keep scouting safe.
  3. For shiny achievements, survive first; defeating one shiny is easier than forcing many sightings in a doomed run.
  4. For Full House, track missing animals by biome and avoid ending runs early for unrelated goals.

Start with the kind of progress you need

Separate witnessing a shiny from killing one before choosing the next detour. My Destiny asks for five different shiny animals, and Gotta catch them all asks for fifteen. I Wanna Be the Very Best instead asks you to defeat a shiny animal. For the encounter goals, another sighting of a kind already counted is not a new kind. For the kill goal, seeing the animal without defeating it answers a different question. Record which of those three outcomes the current run is trying to add. Check the version of advice that excludes Challenges. The June 25 version 1.1 notes enabled Gotta catch them all and My Destiny progress in Challenges, so the earlier report that challenge sightings did not count is not the current rule for those two achievements. This change names the encounter goals; it should not be stretched into a claim that every achievement or every shiny-kill condition has identical mode eligibility. Choose the exact achievement first, then compare the mode you intend to play. Source: Official 1.1 notes Source: Shiny encounter conditions and 1.1 change

Make each scouting detour answer a specific need

Use the map tools to reach an opportunity you can afford, not as evidence that a shiny must appear. Version 1.1 lowered Pollinator’s unlock requirement to 25 Points of Interest. Version 1.2 added more flora, rocks and trees to world generation and reduced barren areas. Neither statement supplies a shiny-spawn probability or fixes where a missing animal will be. An account unlock, a denser-looking map and a new Bestiary entry are different outcomes; verify the one you actually need after taking the detour. At a Giant Mushroom, choose according to the next decision rather than assuming all three rewards improve collection equally. TK’s May 25 guide describes Study as +10% mushroom-identification success, Dip as adding one Poison Tick, and Spread as +20% mushroom spawn rate. Study supplies information for mushroom choices; Dip is not poison resistance; Spread concerns mushrooms rather than shiny animals. These are the dated guide’s figures. Read the current options and use the reward that fits the route instead of converting a mushroom bonus into an unsupported animal-spawn claim. Source: TK’s May 25 Giant Mushroom guide

After a scouting attempt, compare the specific entries or kinds you lacked with what you encountered. Keep ordinary Bestiary coverage, distinct shiny kinds and a completed shiny kill on separate lines. This prevents a long run full of repeat encounters from looking like progress towards every collection objective. If an expected encounter counter does not change, retain the achievement name, animal kind, mode and game version when reviewing it. A short run without a new kind is not evidence of a guaranteed-rate system failing. Source: Steam achievement conditions Source: Shiny encounter conditions and 1.1 change

FAQ

Should I risk the run to kill every shiny I see?

First check whether the goal is an encounter or a kill. The two distinct-kind achievements measure encounters, while I Wanna Be the Very Best requires a defeat. Do not turn an encounter-only detour into a dangerous fight merely because the animal is shiny. Keep the current food and escape options in the decision rather than treating every sighting as a compulsory boss-style battle. Source: Steam achievement conditions

Does another example of the same shiny animal add a new kind?

The encounter objectives specify different shiny animals. Repeating an already recorded kind is therefore not the same as finding a missing kind. Use the relevant counter and your observed kinds to judge progress, rather than the total number of shiny appearances you remember across a run. Source: Steam achievement conditions

Is a particular starting genetic required?

The listed shiny conditions specify the encounter or defeat, not Pioneer, Chosen or Picky. Those names in this route are options to compare with the scouting problem; they are not added achievement prerequisites. If a genetic is locked, its absence does not rewrite the published goal into an impossible one. Source: Steam achievement conditions

Common mistakes

  1. Running fast with no food buffer.
  2. Killing the run for one sighting.
  3. Ignoring boss readiness while collecting.

Choose a path through useful, reachable points of interest. A discovery reward is less valuable when the detour consumes the food or health needed to finish the next encounter.

Judge the terrain benefit on the ground your route actually crosses. If terrain is already manageable, compare another way to gain speed; neither benefit substitutes for an attack plan when the boss arrives.

: Separated five- and fifteen-kind shiny encounters from a shiny kill. Added the 1.1 Challenge eligibility change and explained why mushroom rewards and world-generation changes do not establish shiny-spawn rates.
