Everything is Crab Reroll Picky Build Guide
A route for reroll-heavy unlock farming, build fishing, and learning how mutagen spending changes level-up decisions.

Route phases
- Pick one goal before spending mutagen: a core evolution, an achievement trigger, or survival repair.
- Reroll cheap early, but do not spend the whole budget before the build identity appears.
- Simple gives more mutagen but fewer choices, so treat it as a planning challenge rather than pure power.
- Patient pairs well when skipping bad level-ups is better than accepting a route-breaking card.
Stat priority
- Mutagen control
- Food safety
- Senses
- Flexibility

Separate changing the offer from changing its rarity
Before spending, identify which problem the current offer presents. If none of the choices supplies the missing attack, movement or food function, changing the offer can be the useful action. If the current choices already contain the relevant Evolution and you are considering its rarity, that is a different comparison. A September 19–20 Steam exchange describes the upgrade control as spending 10 Mutagen to raise the current offers by one rarity tier. It does not establish 10 Mutagen as the cost of every reroll. Source: September rarity-upgrade discussion
The same discussion connects that rarity-purchase action with Elitist’s 20-upgrade goal. It does not settle whether the achievement counts each purchase or each offer shown, so use the in-game progress counter instead of multiplying the number of visible cards. Steam’s separate Picky achievement says to reroll 100 times. Keep the action you performed with its own objective; raising rarity and replacing an offer should not be combined into a single invented progress total. Use the actual genetic’s budget and offer rules
Version 1.1 gives Simple a 200-Mutagen start. Older advice based on the v1.0.1 evaluation describes a 100-point start and should remain dated rather than being used as the current starting amount. A larger budget does not guarantee a specific Evolution. Decide what a successful next choice would solve before spending it; repeatedly searching without that stopping rule can leave the same combat problem unresolved after the opening currency has gone. Patient and Chosen alter different parts of selection. The 1.1 notes increased Patient’s rarity bonus when an Evolution is skipped; taking a useful immediate upgrade can still matter more than waiting. In 1.2, Chosen changed to three new Legendary Evolutions without upgrades or branching Evolutions. If the desired next step is a branch of an existing card, a new Legendary offer is not automatically interchangeable with it. Check the kind of choice available before treating either genetic as a universal drafting advantage. Source: Official 1.1 notes Source: Official 1.2 notes
Skipping a Specialisation is another separate action. Version 1.1 added the ability to skip one in exchange for 10 Mutagen points. That is currency received for declining a Specialisation, not the rarity-upgrade purchase and not a statement that a reroll is free. Keep a simple action-and-cost comparison: what changes on this screen, whether the balance rises or falls, and which ability or achievement decision the action serves. FAQ
Does Picky make every reroll free?
megad16’s v1.0.1 evaluation describes a reduction of one to reroll cost. It does not establish a zero price in every context or every interaction with Pressure modifiers. Read the displayed cost before spending, and keep the dated genetic effect separate from Steam’s 100-reroll achievement wording. Does the 100-reroll achievement prove how to unlock the genetic?
Steam’s short Picky description lists the reroll count. It does not by itself confirm the genetic reward, all eligible modes or cross-run counting. Consult the locked Genetics card and the relevant counter for those separate questions instead of treating the shared name as proof of a reward relationship. When should I stop searching for a better colour?
When a usable current choice solves the problem that would otherwise end the run, compare taking it now with the remaining cost of searching. The point of the budget is to obtain a working attack, food plan or movement answer. Rarity alone does not demonstrate that the missing function has been solved. Common mistakes
- Rerolling only for rarity.
- Ignoring good common cards that solve the run.
- Fishing for a perfect build in a run that is already dying.

Storage pays after you can collect surplus food. Use the reserve to bridge stretches without safe pickups; if the pouch stays empty, improve food access before investing further in storage.

Check the displayed reroll price before spending Mutagen. A lower cost can help search for a useful Evolution, but it does not guarantee a particular choice or make every reroll free.
