Builds
Everything is Crab Slithery Slide POI Build Guide
Speed, terrain adaptation, Points of Interest chaining, and collection routing for players farming map value rather than only boss damage.
Genetics
Route phases
- Pioneer and Nomadic are the backbone when the goal is map density.
- Slithery, Slide, Wings, Legs, and Sprint decide whether you can actually reach the value safely.
- Bring Cheek Pouch or food reach so exploration does not starve the run.
- For Bestiary and shiny goals, prioritize safe scouting over fast boss kills.

Name the reward before choosing the detour
A Point of Interest route needs more than fast travel. Before leaving the current path, decide whether the destination could supply information, a food-related opportunity or a useful upgrade. TK’s May 25 Giant Mushroom guide illustrates why this matters: Study gives +10% mushroom-identification success, Dip adds one Poison Tick, and Spread gives +20% mushroom spawn rate in that account. These rewards solve different problems. Dip is not poison resistance, and additional mushrooms are not a guarantee that the next effect benefits the run. Source: TK’s May 25 Giant Mushroom guide
Version 1.1 made random-stat Points of Interest adapt size rewards to the player’s current stats; the official example avoids enlarging small builds or shrinking large ones. The same patch increased Senses’ contribution to mushroom identification. These are released changes, not a promise of a particular reward at the next marker. Compare the current option with the body-size and information needs you actually have, rather than following a fixed list of stops from an older run. Source: Official 1.1 notes
Decide whether to commit to Slide’s destination
The September 2 player comparison warns that Slide’s committed movement and lack of course correction contributed to an earlier Extinction 10-plus failure. The same player preferred Sprint for steerable repositioning. That is an anecdote about control, not proof that one dash is always superior. Before a long displacement, inspect the endpoint and the next ordinary movement step. If the route requires turning during the escape, compare a tool that permits that adjustment rather than choosing solely for travel distance. Source: September 2 dash comparison discussion
Keep the next boss in the scouting decision. A long trip is not useful if the character arrives without a workable attack, enough food access or a safe way to leave the next attack area. After each reward, reassess the immediate problem before committing to another marker. This is especially relevant when chasing collection objectives: seeing a missing animal, defeating a shiny and simply surviving the encounter are different results, so the value of a detour depends on the specific goal. Do not confuse a pool prerequisite with an available ability
The 1.2 notes make Slithery a prerequisite for adding Pedal Glands to the Evolution pool; the account unlock is first completing Pressure 5. Pedal Glands then creates a trail when nearby enemies chase the player. Its Nemertide specialisation makes the trail poisonous and amplifies poison damage according to the target’s Slow. This is an optional branch to evaluate, not something Slithery automatically supplies. Account progress, pool eligibility, receiving the card and choosing its specialisation are separate steps. FAQ
Does the 1.2 map update guarantee a specific Point of Interest?
The official change describes more flora, rocks and trees and fewer barren areas. It does not fix a Giant Mushroom location or guarantee the reward at the next marker. Use what the current map actually offers and compare the travel cost with the problem you need to solve. Source: Official 1.2 notes Source: TK’s May 25 Giant Mushroom guide
Does a mushroom-spawn bonus increase shiny encounters?
TK’s Spread description concerns mushroom spawn rate. The shiny achievements concern animal encounters or a shiny defeat. The quoted reward does not establish a multiplier for shiny animals, so do not turn a useful food-related detour into a promise about a different collection system. Should I keep every movement choice even when the route cannot fight?
The scouting plan still needs a way through the encounters that interrupt travel. If movement is already controllable but fights or food access end the run, another movement option answers the wrong problem. Reassess the missing function before spending again, rather than using the number of travel abilities as the definition of a completed build. Source: September 2 dash comparison discussion
Common mistakes
- Calling it a build without a damage fallback.
- Exploring while underfed.
- Spending all mutagen on movement when a boss answer is missing.

Slithery
Compare terrain that slows your route with the distance you need to cover. Terrain support is useful on difficult ground; it does not provide a separate attack or a food source.

Choose an exit line long enough to use the dash without ending beside another threat. Compare the landing position with a shorter movement option when the arena has tight corners.

Compare reachable points of interest before committing to a detour. More opportunities help only when their rewards fit the run and you can reach them safely.
