Version 1.2.1 Hotfix: Save, Boss Fruit, and Controller Fixes Guide

Version 1.2.1 went live August 20, 2026 and fixes the corrupted Resume Run startup failure, Branching Boss Fruit timing, controller navigation, Steam Input, multiple gamepads, Alt-tabbing, and several UI issues.

Version details and scope

  1. A corrupted Resume Run save no longer blocks the game at startup. The game now warns the player, discards only the interrupted run's progress, and continues to the game.
  2. Collecting a Branching Boss Fruit on the same frame as a regular level-up now grants the intended Branching Evolution.
  3. Controller snapping now reaches newly revealed Genetics and Evolutions, settings entries, and the Patch Notes info icon more reliably.
  4. The hotfix also addresses Steam Input on Steam Deck, unexpected switching with multiple controllers, VJoy input loss after Alt-tabbing, and mixed-input hover or selection conflicts.
  5. The Mutagen icon now shows the correct value after save and resume, and changing to a language without active news panels no longer removes the carousel for every language.
  6. Clawdia contextual death tips no longer appear when a player dies inside a Spinneret web. This is a UI fix, not a route or damage rebalance.
