Everything is Crab Chonk Body Slam Build Guide
Max HP, Size, Body Slam, food reach, POI leveling, and durability scaling. After 1.0.1, Robust is still useful but cannot be the whole tank plan.
Genetics
Route phases
- Do not call it a Body Slam build until Size, Max HP, and at least one defensive layer are online.
- The new Chinese Steam boss route is a useful branch: Vegan/Herbivore food rules, Beak plus Reach for burrows, Cheek Pouch for storage, then Nomadic POI scouting for levels.
- Hump, Robust, Plated, Impervious, and Overwhelm are the difference between big and useful, but Robust is only one layer after 1.0.1.
- Use Patient, Highborn, or Ambivalent when chasing Ultrabonk, total-damage, or size achievements.
- Add Sprint or Slide. Big bodies still get kited and punished by bad boss angles.

Separate Max HP growth from surviving the next contact
Body Slam’s reference describes a close-range Physical hit that scales with Max HP. Compare a Max HP choice with the actual attack plan, then separately check how the larger body will approach and escape. The build is not complete simply because the health bar is large. If the route repeatedly enters a boss attack to reach melee range, the problem can remain positioning even after another growth upgrade increases the potential hit. Hump provides a specific growth condition: eating Health Food while already at full health permanently increases Max HP. This is different from simply finding food while injured. If recent hits keep you below full health, secure recovery and a safe supply of the relevant food before assuming the growth trigger will keep occurring. When the next fight is the urgent problem, compare that conditional future growth with protection or movement you can use immediately. Source: Hump’s full-health trigger
Read the Body Slam suggestion at its stated scope
In the Brutest discussion, Path_of_Circles suggests Body Slam or Trunk with Size and attack-area increases, plus the boss Evolution they call Pollination for more points of interest and enemies. The420elephant adds Social abilities to bring enemies closer. These are named player suggestions, not a complete recorded selection order. The player’s name Pollination is retained as part of that account; it should not be silently converted into a guaranteed effect for another similarly named Evolution. Those suggestions address different stages of producing damage. Growth and attack area concern the hit, gathering enemies concerns an opportunity to use it, and surviving contact concerns whether the run continues afterwards. Compare the stage that is failing before copying another item from the proposal. Pulling more enemies into an area is not automatically helpful if the same contact already exhausts the available recovery, and a large hit alone does not demonstrate the total-damage achievement. Keep old tanking advice tied to its version
The 1.0.1 notes reduced Robust’s effect by 25%. That is a change to the Evolution’s effect, not a claim that Darwin loses exactly a quarter of the Max HP bar or that every old tank setup changes by the same amount. Version 1.1 also adjusted Body Slam’s cooldown and enemy damage progression. The announcement does not give a cooldown value in that sentence. Compare old timing advice with the current ability rather than filling the missing number with an assumed interval. Source: Official 1.0.1 notes Source: Official 1.1 notes
FAQ
Does growing larger complete Chonkers automatically?
Chonkers names a Size threshold of 200%. Judge that attribute rather than the character’s appearance, Max HP or number of growth cards. A Max HP improvement can matter to Body Slam while answering a different question from whether the Size achievement has reached its listed value. Can an Endless damage total rescue a missed Brutest attempt?
SecretModeLiam’s reply places the 35,000 and 50,000 total-damage achievements in normal mode, not Endless. The later total can describe the run you played without proving that earlier achievement condition. Keep the eligible segment and the required total together when reviewing a Body Slam damage attempt. Source: SecretModeLiam on damage-achievement modes
Is Robust alone enough protection for a large body?
The patch documents a reduction to its effect, and the route still has to solve contact timing, movement and recovery. A single defensive choice is not proof that every incoming hit is affordable. Check whether you can leave the dangerous area and regain the conditions needed for Hump, rather than using the size of the health bar as the only readiness test. Common mistakes
- Skipping movement because the HP bar is large.
- Taking Body Slam before the HP/Size engine exists.
- Treating pre-1.0.1 Robust as a complete defense plan.
- Ignoring enemies that punish slow contact.

Herbivore
Inspect the vegetation supply before moving further away from a hunting route. Better progress from plants helps only when you can reach enough of them without dangerous detours.
Read guideBeak
Use the reach to attack from a position you can leave safely. Its feeding benefit is a separate reason to choose it; compare Ability investment with the attack you would replace.
Read guideVegan
Plan food access around the starting Vegan Evolution. If the run also targets Dove or Zen, follow that achievement's separate damage restrictions; the starting genetic and the achievement are different choices.
Read guideChonkers
Use size-increasing evolutions such as Chonky and More Mass; extra health alone does not satisfy a Size target.

: Expanded the Max HP and contact decisions around Body Slam and Hump. Added named player suggestions, Robust’s 1.0.1 effect reduction and the non-numeric 1.1 cooldown change without inventing a timing value.
