Evolution Crosswalk Guide

Compare an evolution’s role with the cards already in your route, then open its detail page for requirements, effects and limitations.

Run checklist

  1. Start with the card name or icon in the evolution index. Open the matching detail instead of identifying a card from a build nickname alone.
  2. Compare what the offered card does with the problem you need to solve: damage, movement, food access, protection or allies. A shared affinity label is not enough to establish a useful combination.
  3. For a branching choice, check the parent evolution and the named specialisation. Do not assume every branch has the same requirements or can be combined with its alternatives.
  4. Add the candidate to the Build Planner to compare the selected cards and body preview. Its card counts are not a prediction of final game attributes.
  5. Use the linked build routes for an example of how choices fit together, then return to the individual card when you need its exact effect.

Compare the exact card state

Version 1.2 expanded the in-game Evolution Codex to show every rarity tier and level. Use that view when an online description, an offered upgrade and a remembered card appear to disagree. A level-one card and its later level are not interchangeable comparison points; neither are two different rarity tiers. Read both labels before treating a numerical difference as a bug.

FAQ

Can the crosswalk or body preview replace the in-game card comparison?

A useful comparison starts with the effect you can use now. Then inspect what the next level changes, whether a named specialisation is involved and what requirement opens that branch. The website’s crosswalk helps find the appropriate guide, while the in-game Codex supplies the full tier-and-level view introduced by the patch. A body preview in the planner is not a combat simulator.

Use version changes to test a proposed pairing

Two examples show why a shared theme is not enough. Version 1.1 explicitly stopped Overwhelm and Sharpen bonuses from applying to damage over time such as poison. A poison route therefore cannot justify either choice merely because the description also discusses damage. Identify the damage event receiving the bonus, then compare it with the event your route produces.

Version 1.2 changed Constriction in another way: it can damage and stun nearby targets while the player remains still, and other attacks can be used without breaking the stun. Movement ends that interaction. This makes position and timing part of the pairing, not only the two card names. It also means an older instruction to stay inside a drawn circle no longer describes the updated rule.

Work through an offer without inventing a finished build

  1. Identify the offered Evolution by its name and read the displayed effect. A similar icon or a community nickname may refer to another level, branch or card.
  2. Name the current problem in the run. If reaching food is the problem, explain how this particular offer changes access; an unrelated damage increase does not answer that question by itself.
  3. Check existing cards for a stated interaction. Separate an official exclusion, such as a bonus that does not affect poison, from a combination that merely has not been tested.
  4. Compare the alternative offer at its actual level and rarity. Do not compare a Common offer now with an imagined Legendary version several upgrades later.
  5. Revisit the choice after the next major reward. A card selected to bridge an early problem need not dictate every later pick if the run’s needs change.

FAQ

Does sharing an affinity guarantee synergy?

No. An affinity is a useful way to find candidates, but a combination needs a compatible effect, target and condition. Read those properties before assuming that collecting more cards with the same label improves the same attack.

Can I use Chosen to obtain a missing branch?

The 1.2 announcement excludes branching Evolutions from Chosen’s offers and excludes upgrades to existing Evolutions. Its three new Legendary offers should not be treated as a shortcut around a branch requirement.
